If I were to tell the future generations about these times during the pandemic, I would say that you shouldn't take things that are important to you for granted. I would say to cherish every second with friends and family. I would let them know how quickly things can change, so live a little. You never realize how much you need someone or something until it is taken from you. These times during this pandemic are insane and crazy. I would let them know how the hospital staff, doctors, and nurses are outstanding and deserve all the recognition in the world and that you should never take them for granted. They put in so much to save lives and during this time proved they were strong and brave. During these times it was hard for everyone. Physically, emotionally, and mentally. Being in quarantine was a struggle for everyone. It left people with thoughts that they never had before because those thoughts were put to the back of their minds because they had things like school and friends to allow them to forget about it. I would say be grateful for having the ability to have physical contact with everyone and everything because it can easily be taken from you. I would tell them to always keep in touch with the older family members in their lives. I would say, don't take for granted having food on the dinner table, and easy access to almost anything and everything you need in your homes. Cherish the ability to go outside without a mask and breathe fresh air. If something is important to you, don't take that for granted, whether it be sports, arts, photography, or anything you love because anything, like a pandemic, can take that away from you. Most importantly is your education. Don't take for granted the privileges you have to be surrounded by the friends you've grown up with, and the ability to have an education that isn't through a computer screen. I would tell them that things get tough, but if you fight through it and think positive, good things will happen. Location Where was this item created? Moses Brown Upper School Humanities teacher Edward Henry tasked his 9th grade world history students to create an expressive piece comparing the student’s own experiences & perspectives of Covid-19 with what they learned about The Black Death in 1300s Europe & North Africa. Students generated a broad range of work connecting the historic pandemic to their own, lived experiences. Collectively and individually, the students knocked their teacher’s socks off. Title What would you title this item? Unity through shared isolation Description What is it all about? A collage depicting the isolation of lockdown and remote learning during Covid-19; connected to the solidary and digital unity of the share experience. My experience with Covid learning was largely bad. I struggled to pay attention in zoom classes and I felt trapped in my house, which got quite difficult after a long period of time. I learned the value of in-person learning, while also gaining experience in independence that usually doesn’t come until later in life. It was hard to be stuck in long zoom calls, especially when everyone’s cameras were off and I was just staring at a blank screen for an hour. I wasn’t alone, though, the whole world was struggling with me. In a way, it united the world and also revealed underlying problems I hadn’t realized were even there. Some people couldn’t even get access to good wifi for their classes. Now, I hope that people will be able to support and sympathize for each other and the resources that they have, and work together to solve their problems. Creator Who created this item?
